Fav book in January: Embrace - Megan Derr

Hello everyone!
After mostly watching these communities, I thought after seeing the "Monthly favourite" categorie that I have to make an entry.
Why? Becasue of the book I am reading (and highly enjoying). So here you go:
Embrace by Megan Derr

Short Summary:
When Aubrey returns home after many years away, he is welcomed back with the extravagant gift of a Pet he never wanted and secrets he never dreamed existed... Many years ago, the race of creatures once known as 'vampires' agreed to surrender their freedom, rather than face eventual annihilation. They exist now as Pets to the lords and ladies of high society, forced to serve forever the human whose blood they first drink. Detesting the practice, Aubrey has always avoided taking a Pet for himself. But upon his return home from school, he is gifted with a Pet by his father. His Pet, however, is like none he's ever known, and only the start of an old and complicated tangle of secrets.

My thoughts:

Well, the thing is: I read a lot. And most of the things I read are nice, but not overly so. But this book? Really hooked me! The characters are interesting, the story is non-predictable and you can't stop reading, because you just want to know what is going on there. There are so many question and the answers only revelal themselves bit by bit. The story is not fast-paced (like many shorter works are) but really enjoyable and never boring.

Oh, yeah, and I was really hoping the would be a second volume, because the end is kind of "fast paced" (in contrast to the rest of the book) and I am just curiouse on how it might go on. It has definitly potential for more volumes...

So I'd really recommend this book for a nice read in this cold winter. It's really enjoyable at a warm place with a cup of tee, looking at the frozen ground outside ^_~

(P.S: Sorry in case the description sounded strange sometimes, but english is not my native language and this makes it sometimes hard to really get my thought across... But I hope you understood most of what I meant anyway...)

So, have a good read!
